Michael Saylor's Strategy spent about $65.5 million on 811 BTC in the week of Oct 26–Nov 1, while putting $208.2 million toward buying back STRC preferred shares.

Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) is buying bitcoin again after a one-week pause. According to an 8-K filed with the SEC on Monday, the company bought 811 BTC between Oct 26 and Nov 1 for about $65.5 million.
The average purchase price was $80,846 per bitcoin. Strategy now holds 849,327 BTC at an average cost of roughly $75,451 per coin.
Key takeaways
- Purchase: 811 BTC for about $65.5 million at an average of $80,846.
- Holdings: 849,327 BTC with a total cost basis of roughly $64.1 billion.
- Funding: 1,178,552 MSTR shares sold through the at-the-market (ATM) program for about $164 million.
- Other priority: $208.2 million spent buying back about 2.09 million STRC preferred shares.
- Context: Strategy skipped bitcoin purchases the prior week, its first pause since mid-September.
Inside this week's purchase
The disclosure followed Michael Saylor's usual Sunday tracker post on X, captioned "We found room for even more orange." The post has become a reliable hint that a new purchase filing is coming.
The figures below come from the company's filing, as reported by The Block, Decrypt and Bitcoin Magazine:
- 811 BTC bought for about $65.5 million.
- Average price of $80,846, above the company's overall cost basis.
- Total holdings of 849,327 BTC, more than 4% of bitcoin's 21 million supply cap.
- The previous purchase before the pause was 267 BTC for about $22.1 million.
That is small compared with Strategy's multibillion-dollar buys of the past. Still, the return to buying during a week weighed down by the Binance hack is being watched closely by investors.
Where the cash actually went
Most of the money raised this week did not go into bitcoin. Strategy sold about $164 million of MSTR stock, sending $65.5 million to bitcoin purchases and $98.5 million to its USD Cash balance.
From that cash, the company spent $208.2 million repurchasing STRC preferred shares at an average of about $99.52. As a result, USD Cash fell from $242.4 million to $132.7 million.

Strategy also paid $43.4 million in preferred dividends from its USD Reserve. The reserve now stands at about $4.79 billion, with total USD assets of about $4.9 billion.
Holders of STRC, STRF, STRK and STRD also approved daily dividend accrual, with 99.3% of votes cast in favor. About $18.6 billion of capacity remains under the MSTR ATM program.
What it means for crypto markets
MSTR fell about 9.6% last week to close Friday at $130.51, while bitcoin dropped about 3.6%. Bitcoin traded near $78,000 when the filing came out, below the average price Strategy paid this round.
- Bull case: Strategy returns to steady weekly buying, adding reliable demand just as spot bitcoin ETFs face outflows after the Binance hack.
- Risk case: the company keeps prioritizing STRC buybacks and cash, leaving its bitcoin bids too small to offset selling from ETFs and investors pulling funds from exchanges.
Fellow bitcoin treasury firm Strive also added 124 BTC between Oct 24 and Oct 30, bringing its total to 43,124 BTC.
What to watch next

- MSCI's index review list due Nov 11, which could affect MSTR.
