How to Create a Binance Account and Secure It: Beginner Guide (2026)

Step-by-step Binance sign-up, identity verification (KYC) and 5 security layers to enable: 2FA, passkey, anti-phishing code, withdrawal whitelist and Binance Verify.

An exchange account is like your safe: opening it is easy, but locking it properly is what really matters. This guide shows beginners how to create a Binance account, verify their identity and turn on every security layer from day one.
Step 1: Sign up
- Only download the Binance app from the App Store / Google Play or type binance.com directly. Don't click unknown links sent via messages or group chats.
- Use a dedicated email just for the exchange, with a strong password and two-factor authentication enabled on that email too.
- Use a long password that you don't reuse on any other site.
Step 2: Verify your identity (KYC)
- Go to Account → Identification → Start, choose your country and document type (passport, national ID card or driver's license; the list may vary by country).
- Take clear photos of both sides of the document, then record a face video as instructed: good lighting, no hat, no glasses, no beauty filters.
- Double-check your details before submitting because they cannot be changed once verification is complete. Review usually takes up to 48 hours.
- Unverified accounts can only withdraw; they cannot deposit or trade.
Step 3: Enable all 5 security layers
- 2FA with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Binance Authenticator) instead of SMS. SMS codes are easier to hijack through SIM swapping.
- Passkey: log in with your fingerprint or face on your device, which protects you against phishing websites.
- Anti-Phishing Code: a phrase of your choice that appears in every genuine email from Binance. Treat any email without this code as fake.
- Withdrawal Whitelist: only allows withdrawals to addresses you have saved in advance. Even if an attacker gets into your account, it is hard for them to withdraw funds.
- Device management and activity log: regularly check for unfamiliar devices logged in and remove them immediately.
Common scams to avoid
- SMS or email messages saying "your account is locked, click the link to verify". Binance never asks for your password or 2FA code.
- People claiming to be "Binance support staff" messaging you privately on Telegram or Zalo. Use the Binance Verify tool on the Binance website to check whether an account, link or email really belongs to Binance.
- Unknown browser extensions and "high-profit trading bot" software that asks for withdrawal permissions.
- Buying, selling or renting out verified accounts: this violates exchange rules and can get you involved in cases related to illicit funds.
1-minute checklist
- Dedicated email, strong password, app-based 2FA, passkey, anti-phishing code, withdrawal whitelist. With all 6 in place, your account is safer than most users'.
Legal note for Vietnam
- From September 1, 2026, Decree 284/2026/ND-CP sets fines of VND 30–50 million for Vietnamese investors trading crypto assets through unlicensed providers. Binance is currently not a licensed exchange in Vietnam.
- Under Resolution 05/2025/NQ-CP, penalties for investors trading outside licensed exchanges apply 6 months after the first domestic exchange is licensed. As of early September 2026, no exchange had been officially licensed.
