Resting orders and filled trades explained

Resting orders vs filled trades – waiting in the book or already traded

Quick definition: Resting orders sit in the order book and have not traded — on the chart they are the shaded order-book cells. Filled trades have happened: an aggressive buyer (or seller) hit the other side's resting orders.

On the chart, unusually large filled trades appear as bubbles (above the 99.9th percentile of aggregated trades in the previous 24 hours and a per-coin minimum; bigger = more money; colour by aggressor side). Smaller trades are not drawn as bubbles.

A resting zone is "eaten" when trades fill into it.

💡 Example

The order-book cell at 99,500 holds 2 million USD of resting bids. Someone sells 1.5 million USD into it aggressively: that part becomes filled trades and the cell fades; if the fill is unusually large, a sell-coloured bubble also appears.
